Marine

​​​Pacific Basin Towage – Tugs Yarra and Flinders full mechanical overhaul and survey

  • Overboard sea valves removed, stripped, inspected, remachined, lapped and reinstalled
  • Main engine pumps (sea water, fresh water and oil) stripped, inspected and rebuilt with new seals, bearings and gaskets
  • Main engine cylinder heads stripped, measured, pressure tested, valves ground and seats reset
  • Engine liners removed, measured, lip machined and painted externally
  • All pistons cleaned, measured, bearing journals measured, new bolts numbered and fitted, new big-end bearings fitted, all torques and deflections taken
  • Both engines cleaned and reassembled to specifications
  • Both auxiliary engines overhauled as above with the addition of new gudgeon pins and bushes
  • General service centrifugal seawater pumps overhauled and modified to remove old stuffing box gland and mechanical seals installed
  • Repairs to main engine sea water pipes
  • New auxiliary sea water pipes fabricated and a new bilge suction line fabricated and installed
  • Air, water and oil end covers removed from heat exchangers and tube nests rodded and cleaned.  End covers Devcon repaired and coated with ceramic flow coat
  • Full survey and measurement report provided to client
  • Both vessels were previously overhauled and surveyed by Portland Precision Engineering in 2005.
